Cradle to grave government control
« on: May 05, 2012, 12:41:16 AM »
The Life of Julia.

No, it's not Julia Gillard, it's an advert for Obama.

James Taranto from the Wall Street Journal comments.

As does Mark Steyn

Cradle to grave government support.  And dependency. That's what it's about, really. You give them the support and then make them dependent on it. That way the government have you by the short and curlies. It gets to the stage where you cannot break free. And that's what Obama wants. He doesn't want people to be in charge of their own lives but reliant on the government. Once you have a people (or a large percentage of that people) dependent on the Government, then the government can do pretty much what it wants without fear from the people because said government only has to threaten to remove that support.

Edit:

Reading the comments from this column brought something to my attention.

Despite the years going by, the advert seems to insinuate that Obama is still in control.

Oh, so that's what this is all about. Yesterday I started seeing stuff pop up on the conservative side of Blogland talking about some person named "Julia" being killed in childbirth due to Obama's support of late-term abortion, or losing her healthcare under Obamacare... and I was wondering, "Why 'Julia'? What's that all about?"

I saw a link on Facebook that lined up about ten or twelve rebuttals to Obama's ad, a couple of which actually use the same graphics.   Obama keeps trotting out these internet ads, and getting blindsided when conservatives prove as good as making them as his guys.
